So I just bought the USA weld kit but it says right on the foot pedal box not for millermatic 215 and it says that on the ssc website too. It is the SSC part# C810-0814. I saw some people use it and say that it does works for their multimatic 215. Has anyone actually tried that kit that could chime in? I was considering returning it because I am just starting out welding and not sure if I will even touch the tig for a month or 2. Don't want to plug it in down the road and have it not work.

I haven't tried that personally, but It should work fine. If it doesn't, contact USA weld, they will take care of you even if few months have passed. You could also call them now to make sure, they are very helpful.

RFCS-RJ45 is the foot pedal that Miller sells for both the Diversion 180 and Millermatic 215.

I bought the SSC/HTP foot pedal yrs ago and have used it several times on my Multimatic 215 without any issues. Now I am wondering if I've been getting lucky.

Now when I 1st tried the pedal on my Hobart Multi-Handler 200 I had no weld output with it. Bought the Miller foot pedal and got no output either. Don't know if the HTP/SSC foot pedal damaged the Multi-Handler 200. Hobart replaced it with a new machine. I only use the Miller foot pedal on the Multi-Handler 200 now. Since the tech trouble shooting the Multi-Handler 200 didn't pay attention when I told him that my Miller foot pedal operated my Multimatic 215 without any issues, I ended up with a 2nd Miller foot pedal in the warranty coverage. So maybe I better start playing safe and us the Extra Miller foot pedal on the 215.

Think I ll e mail HTP about there foot pedal.

Sounds like Miller made a component modification to the 215 but won't tell when to HTP. So instead of HTP being able to state that the foot pedal will work with 215s that fall within a certain serial number range, they have to state it won't work with the 215.

I called HTP and they basically said what Dan said, that it only applies to the new welders but according to them they haven't even been released yet. They also said it would not hurt the welder to try it. They said if the amp setting is changing when you press it that it is working. You do not have to actually weld to test it. I will update here after I try it.

It’s just 4 wires afaik. 2 wires to close the circuit and two wires going to a potentiometer or maybe 3 wires to the potentiometer for adjusting the amperage. What else is there? Maybe miller added a couple of wires with a resistor or something so the machine won’t weld unless the circuit is met by a resistor etc. there it not much to the foot pedal wiring.
