Does HF use the tweco style torches for their mig welders? I have the Easy Mig 100 and forgot to look at this before I bought it.

You sound unsure? I did send an e-mail off to HF tech support to try and get an official response. I would hope that HF wouldn't use some kind of proprietary torch style. I hope I am able to buy aftermarket tips and nozzles for the welder.

I Googled harbor freight welding tips and this is what i found....Bob

Extra welding tips. They come in 3 sizes. .023, .030, and ,035. The wire size used determines the tip size to be used. The Harbor Freight welder uses standard tips. Tips for Lincoln and other welders will fit.

My 151 Dual MIG uses standard threaded tips. In fact at the moment I'm not using HF tips. I can't remember whose brand I'm actually using but they're not Tweco.

"Tweco style" is a very loose expression. HF torches aren't built by Tweco, they are built by whatever supplier they buy the welder from. I am certain it would not be difficult to adapt a Tweco brand torch to your welder, but to be honest, why would you want to? The torch will cost more than the welder, and you'd be better off investing your hard earned cash in a Lincoln, Miller or Hobart. That's not a put-down of the Chicago Electric welder. Most of their wirefeed process welders are decent if not pretty good. Certainly the best value out there.

If you break a torch per year on the HF welder that's 20 bucks a torch, which includes the new liner and wiring. My only complaint about mine is that the trigger can sometimes be a little touchy. But I've been using the same torch since I got it 6 months ago, and I've used it pretty hard. Even parked the welder on top of it once by accident without bending it.

If you have any doubt though (after all, you have a MIG 100 and I have the 151), remove the tip from your welder and cart it down to your local Ace or Depot or Lowes or wherever it is you have going on locally and see if you can find something that looks right.

I don't want to confuse you more, but there is no such thing as a "standard threaded tip" All manufacturers for the most part have there own tips, and even the same manufacturer uses a different tip from gun model to gun model. The tips and nozzles are different on both of my Miller guns, as well as my Lincoln guns. That's not to say that you can find a compatible tip for a HF welder from another manufacturer, but it's not as simple as walking in and saying I need a bag of standard threaded tips.............

I think they also interchange with a specific type of Lincoln torch too, but I didn't save the packing from the tips I had bought at the hardware store to double check the application. Since I'm at least a hundred miles from the nearest HF store, it's cheaper for me to just buy tips locally. The USA made tips I got are probably better anyway.

It is true though that generally Mig tips aren't standardized among the various manufacturers though, which is why I suggested bringing a fried tip along when you go to match it up.

About all I can tell you on that Waldo is ask the company you got it from. Like Bob and Hammack said these things aren't standardized. Some parts will interchange with other guns and even other manufacturers guns, but not all and not even with all guns from the same manufacturer. Tweco does in fact make a replacement gun for the small migs that will work with many brands. You will have to pay a visit to their website to find out more info. I only have small Lincolns and the Magnum 100 gun is about 50 - 60% cheaper than the tweco. I would swear one of the HF machines I looked at had a Bernard or Bernard style gun on it. It was a different gun from the one on the other models they had in stock.
