I found an 02 trailblazer 301g on craigslist. Came from a diesel shop, had the oil changed every 35hrs and the filter every 70. It has 530 hours on it and its listed for 1800. Never ran anything more then a grinder and 5/32 7018

Are the 301's different from the 302's ?

Because I have lift start tig with auto stop or auto crater fill modes..Which is way better than scratch start particularly when doing thin material

I just got mine out of the shop. Went to use it a couple of weeks ago and it acted like it was full blast on the amps and would not turn down. Ended up replacing a couple of components on the voltage control board. Cost was around $570. Other than that love how it welds. There are other threads on 301G's if you do a search. I would get another if needed.

well guys this 15 year old is gonna suck it up and buy it. going to the bank in the morning and getting out 1800 from the ol savings account. the seller is not including leads though. anybody got a good source for welding leads that can push 300 amps. id like to have about 75ft on the work and stinger.

Yes test the welder and the generator before buying!!! The welding generator is separate from the power generator. I made the mistake of running a grinder when I got mine for 1500.00. I didn't weld with it because he didn't have leads( how convenient for him) it needed both boards changed. Cost me another thousand. Now it needs the front board again. It only has 179 hours on it. It currently will weld 3/32 and 1/8 with no problem but nothing bigger. Generator still at full power though.

I've never looked at the circuit boards on a 301, but I would be willing to bet they just have generic components that can be easily replaced. Probably $50 total in electronic parts on the boards. Don't throw your old boards away if you end up replacing them.
