I recently purchased a Hobart mega arc 300g. It needs a starter and I am having a hard time finding the correct one. It has a 2.3 Ford engine. I tried finding a manual with no luck. Does anyone have a manual or know the specifics I could give the parts store to get the right starter?

Where are you located ? Are you sure that the motor is a Ford 2.3 ?

If it is one of these you will need to find a Ford Industrial engine distributor. :

A picture of the starter might be helpful. You may have the same starter as the 6 cyl. 4.9L industrial motor. Some parts are starting to get scarce for the pre emissions motors.

Is the starter still in the engine, try the troubleshooting guide if you feel handy. You might be able to have yours rebuilt.

Thanks for all your input. It turns out it is a 3.3 Ford 6 cylinder. The starter that was on it was bad. It was a 11001 based upon the core stamping. But all the 11001s that I found had the mounting ears in the wrong location. I ended up putting the front end off the old starter on a new one and everything worked out. It now starts properly.
