Hi there, I am new to this forum. I have been welding and cutting since high school shop class. I have a farm where it seems something is always breaking and needing welded (hopefully better and stronger than it was). My question today is I am shopping for consumables for my plasma cutter and notice there are 2 different tips available. The cutter came with a casselated type of flat tip. They also have a pipe tip which is cone shape, but I can't find any info about the tips. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

I think there are a few eastwood users on here... they would know for sure about the eastwood branded stuff and be able to help more than me in the specifics.

I mainly have thermal dynamics. Drag tips are in fact designed to be in contact with the material being cut of course the machine has to support drag cutting. User JimColt is the defacto expert on most anything plasma :) if he sees this thread he might offer up more 'official' facts and info to your query.

LOL @ AGW

Without knowing the make/model of your plasma it's hard to say what is available for it....???

However the castelated tip is probably a 'drag' tip - for normal cutting you would have this tip in contact with the material being cut while cutting, cone tips usually the tip is aprx. 3/16" away from the material being cut while cutting.
