Hey all, first post!

I just bought a car and would like to "tweak" the stock exhaust a bit. The stock exhaust is stainless steel. Basically what I am looking to do is cut out the resonators and fab an x-pipe, and also swap out the mufflers for something a bit louder.

I have two questions:
1. If I were to use stainless tubing and mufflers and MIG weld it out with er70s-6, how would it hold up with all the heat-cycles an exhaust sees?

2. Similar question to above, but what if I were to use mild steel tubing and mufflers welded to the stainless?

If I'm asking a moronic question, please set me sraight! haha. But, if the above is not a good idea, is there a stainless MIG wire to use?

Really appreciate the help!

It's a common question, so don't feel bad about asking it. The simple answer is yes, it will weld up fine. The weld will be strong. The only drawback is the weld will not be rust proof. But really, it will last for years with no ill affects.
