Bobcat Airpak 200 "WELD COMM" Error. PC1 issue? Please Help, My soul is dying.
Hey guys! I am a disabled veteran just launching my own welding business in Vermont. I bought a work truck with a gas Miller Bobcat airpak 200 on it but won't weld because of the "weld comm" error. The "WELD COMM" error is an issue of communication between the PC1 welder control board and the PC3 main control board on the front panel apparently.
The serial number is NA020117R.
Machine facts:
1) The machine starts right up, and the compressor works.
2) The power outlets on front work as well.
3) I attempted the USB drive software update and it failed during the startup welder controller update phase.
4) The error changed to "WELD BOOT" and the Miller service tech said its the PC1 cntroller that needs to be replaced.
5) The machine is 200 hours, factory refurbished.
I have the PC1 welder controller pulled out at the moment, nothing looks overtly burnt out and all the connections seemed okay to me.
My questions:
1) I absolutely need a reliable machine for reasons you all know. If I go and drop $600 on a new PC1, what is stopping this machine from just toasting the PC1 again in the field?
2) Can anyone help me identify and address the root cause of the WELD COMM error and how to truly fix it so I can trust this machine?
As a disabled veteran, it took immense effort for me to get to this stage of starting my own business. Proudly, I have my structural steel currently installed at both Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida. Basically, I'm working my a$$ off mega style to make this all work, and a machine I can't trust is an issue I can't get around mentally. All this just to say that I would deeply and truly appreciate any and all help than anyone here can give me. Thank you guys. Pete
