I'm brand new here - took some classes in TIG and liked it -- still doing a lot of practice welds each day. Found a 200DX on Craigslist local for $2300 - it included everything including a full bottle of Argon, torch with boxes of consumables, etc. etc. etc., ready to weld. I offered $2k for it and that was quickly accepted, and I have been using it for more than a month now with no problems. Don't know that was average used price, but it's what I did and so far I am not unhappy. Looks like new inside and out, but don''t know really how many hours the PO who died two years ago actually used it. He was a hobbyist also. Definitely lacks the Blue Lightning, but I'm still a learning hobbyist and it seemed a cheaper way to get started - at least for now. I have moments where I wonder if I did the right thing going this way vs new. I am finding cutting to be equally as challenging as welding and haven't decided which way to go on that. Just cutting discs for now.
