Sorry for the lengthy post ahead of time

Ok, bought this machine about 2 years ago used. SN is KG091541, a 1994 model I think. I checked it all out b4 I bought it, welded a while. Worked perfect. Some things happened around here, and it sat in storage for a while. First at my buds shop, then mine. Sat for about a year, unplugged, dry. Finally got to the point to start welding, had it all hooked up. Turned it on and it blew the breaker.

Long story short, it had a bad D1 main rectifier diode. A few days at National Welders and couple hundred later, thought they made it all better. It welds fine, in SMAW mode. TIG and stick it does a beautiful job. Problem now is when I switch it to GTAW, the remote doesn't work, I hear the High Freq. buzzing all the time, and my argon flows constantly. My ammeter is also not functioning. Reads 000 or -.01 in GTAW. I can weld in thins mode. Just have no remote function and no idea what amperage it's set on. Called Nat. Welders back and he assured me it was a problem in the pedal remote itself. I've checked and found no issues as yet. Called the guy at Miller corporate assistance. He told me that it sounds like a machine issue, since the problem exists wether the remote is plugged in or not. He had me break the C6 and C5 resistor off of the "PC2" circuit board. Not make this any longer, the Miller guy, Jeff Johnson, real nice guy, told me to do this, so I'm not crazy I hope. Anyway, this didn't solve the problem. My guy at National Welders also told me there was a very gunky build up in my machine that seemed to be holding carbon dust and possibly shorted my Diode out, and told my I should soak it with puple Power and suirt it out. Again, The tech at National told me this and he's been doing it for 25 years. I really need help. I've got a really big Aluminum job lined up, and I need the remote to work.

Thanks ahead for any advice

Would anyone mind, if you have a fairly modern Miller tig welder with high frequency, go to your welding machine, un plug your foot pedal, and see what happens to the machine.

Thanks

Why would we want to do that?
You have given everyone here with that machine a clue as to the fact that something ...probably bad will happen...:realmad:

So Mr 2 posts..
Whats your point? :waving:

We're waiting...

...zap!
