I scored a bunch of Bessy clamps at Lowes as they are changing from Bessy to Irwin. they ranged from $1 to $7.50 each and i think $11 for the bar clamps (all more than 50 % off orig price). They are still made in China but for less than the price of a HF clamp i got some that are hopefully at least a step up from that.

Quick release.

I picked up two 6" and one 4" with double foot pads on Monday. The screw seemed week but for 3 and 4 dollars, who cares.

The quick release button is plastic so I didnt get any of them.

So I was I Denver today, speed at a Lowe's on my way home to get some Arc Fault circuit breakers and found more clamps. Some of these are actually made in Germany! Most expensive one was under $11

I have one of those with the orange release button on it. For some reason the guts of that function didn't last long. I just opened it up and poured it full of brazing rod. I didn't clean it and it didn't stick worth a hoot but it holds good enough for the acme drive portion to hold. Good stout clamp. Doesn't seem to warp and twist like some C clamps. I've got one of their crows foot C clamps but without the pads. I love it.

All the ones I went to in my area it was, looks like they are discontinuing the Bessy brand and replacing with Irwin clamps. Their Bessy vices are also on sale, made in China vices though..
I'm hoping the little 4" bar clamps fit into the slots on the harbor freight welding table

Went to Lowes after lunch and the entire clamp aisle was Irwin, no Bessey in sight:mad:
Walked the entire tool dept where they usually have discontinued and sale items stashed only to find nothing.
They placed a table in the carpet (why tools in carpet?) dept with all the clearance stuff on it. One box with 4 different C clamps and 5 of the medium sized bar clamps. There was another box that had the 2" C clamps in it. That one was completely empty and looked like gorillas tore through it.

Here is the only Bessey stuff left in the store, now in my shop.

Thanks for letting us know about the clearance sale!

I purchased some vises. The two on the right for myself and the left for the father in law. Definitely an upgrade over my HF vise.

Do they still not have a locking mechanism on those rotating vises? It is sort of hard to tell from the picture.

I did not do it but Kant Twists Kan. I think making up some home brew Kant Twists would be a good project.

Bessey still does make some nice clamps but they don't have them at Lowe's.

I wish I could figure out hot to go back and edit this but I cant figure out how to get back to the quote. Why can't I just delete it?

I don't get the fascination with c-clamps. A "sliding arm clamp" is better in every way. They don't twist, bend or take for ever to change from one clamping thickness to another. Used to be Bessey was the brand for the sliding clamps but I have some Stronghand ones around that are doing good and the price is right.
