Can you build a shed over your saw?

 

Not really. I am planning a new shop, so I really don't want to build any more structures. And I don't want another connex box just for this.

 

If you have room for a 7x11 you have room for an Ellis 1600 if not an 1800. 1600 is just a lot easier to move as it comes on tires with an extendable handle.

 

If I spend the money on an Ellis, I will most likely get a larger one. I am looking for something to get me bye for now. Looking for the best bang for the buck.

 

use a wilton band saw 14 inch model # 8201

I have a CAROLINA, there’s been complaints on them but mine cuts straight and I’ve had no issues, I had to fill the feed cylinder, but no big deal. I’m gonna rewire it because someone removed safety devices and just has a household switch hanging over the frame with the terminals covered in tape.

 

Ellis 1600 is portable and easily maneuvered.

 

That is a good looking machine... doesn't look to have a much bigger footprint than my Chinese 5x7 King.

..... but that price tag. It's worth about 8 of my King's...

 

I have had this for years…gets a lot of use. Very accurate and easy to use as well.

 

Ironically, since it is a swivel head, the space is needed on the motor side. So, it cannot be used too close to a wall and material feed system needs to be narrow or it will interfere with the swivel.

 

I ended up going with the Klutch from Northern Tool. It seems to be the best bang for the buck that I could find. I also got 5% off the price on an offer they had running today. I will pick it up from the local store.

Any recommendations on quality coolant to run. Something water based, non-corrosive and non-rusting. That may be obvious, but I never had to buy coolant for a machine before.

 

You dont use coolant on Ellis saws because of the vulcanized rubber wheels.

Coincidentally, I pulled out my Ellis 1200 this morning.

Gonna clean it up and list it.

Thanks for the info. I was not military, and that I won't cheat on! I will cheat on everything else that involves the gubment, but not that. LOL

Sold my Ellis 1200 to a guy who offered stupid money for it. Great company and a very nice saw. I ended up buying a Baileigh BS-128M. Smaller saw with swivel head and uses 64.5 x 1/2 blades. Great blade life at an affordable price and a stellar cutting saw. I also have a couple Evolution saws for quick cuts. Sky's the limit on cutting options.

 

This might just be the best bang for your buck....
