The sales rep talked the less than technically inclined boss into trying them. I think we are getting some 333 rod to try out. Are they worth the price compared to plain Jane Fleetweld and so on?

333 is an awesome rod, although expensive(I think like $50+ per pound. It is a high strength rod for steel. We use it solely for stud pulling. Removal of old broken off bolts that are flush or below the surface. It doesn't like bonding two pieces of metal together as the flux isolates it to one piece of metal for the most part. It is EXCELLNET for stud removal. Dave

I have tried a few samples over the years. I could never justify the expense for them. If you check Lincoln,Esab or one of the other manufactures of wire will have something with the same strenghts as they have. They might have a little different running characteristics.
A couple of years ago I was looking for some hardsurfacing rod. They wanted $72.00 a lb. for something that wasn't worth the time to put it on. If you ordered at least 100 lbs. they were offering lobster or steak as a bonus for buying their wire. I ran him off and he has never came back
Just my .02 cents

For stud pulling these is no better rod. We tried Lincoln, Inweld McKay with the same characteristics and Chronatron just wins in this department. It's funny how many people don't even know how to remove a broken bolt by welding it out even if it's like 1" down broken off. Dave
